About this Program


The ASAAA Legislator Education and Awareness Program aims to educate and make legislators, their staffs and other key state policymakers aware of the need for a robust and vibrant automotive aftermarket.  A complimentary goal is to enhance the government affairs capacities of state and regional aftermarket trade associations as well as individual aftermarket companies.


The program has been developed under the leadership of ASAAA committee and project advisory committee consisting of industry leaders.


Funding for this program has been provided by:  ASAAA, AAIA, AWDA, AASA/MEMA, AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, Robert Bosch Corporation, REMY Power Products, LKQ/Keystone, GPI – CARQUEST and GPC – NAPA.


How to Use this Program


This program is designed to be fully transferable to your association or company – in other words these documents have been created for you to personalize with your own message and logo and utilized to inform, educate and communicate with your state legislators.


Included in this guide are informational documents and helpful tips as well as documents ready for download and use by you.   Simply download, personalize for your particular situation or issue, add your logo and you are ready to go.

The Alliance of State Automotive Aftermarket Associations (ASAAA) is comprised of 14 regional and state associations representing the automotive aftermarket. While most memberships are predominantly independent parts distributors, many of the associations represent all aspects the automotive industry including automotive service and repair. With over 10,000 members represented among the 14 state associations, ASAAA seeks to unite its efforts to impact their members business by having a positive influence on the industry both in their respective states and nationally.


ASAAA was established in 1953 to bring together the state association executives to network and discuss industry issues in order to address the important issues faced by our industry.
